Deeply transformative, this work is a journey of returning to sacred self.  By learning to be fully present in our body, knowing our own movements and sensations, tolerating feelings, becoming aware of our protective defenses, claiming all of our parts including negative and positive,  and connecting with our inner joy, we are able to allow our divine energy to flow more freely.

Created by John Pierrokas, Core Energetics Therapy (CET) is a combination of his bioenergetics studies and concepts drawn from the Pathwork Lectures; a spiritual~psychological life practice channeled by his wife Eva Pierrokas.

It is based on "......the premise that emotional, mental and physical disturbances are symptoms of blocked energy, due to an individual’s adaptive responses to environmental deficits or injuries in childhood." ~ Institute of Core Energetics

A session involves a combination of talking, movement, and breath work as well as developing objectivity and practicing conscious connection of emotional, mental, and spiritual energy with physical sensation.

FAQ

1. WHAT IS CORE ENERGETICS THERAPY?

Developed by John Pierrakos,  CET is a combination of John’s bioenergetics background and the psychological/spiritual concepts from Eva Pierrakos’s Pathwork Lectures.  Click here to learn more about John’s journey to CET.

From the time we are born, we begin to organize our energy in order to cope with the pain of unmet needs and external life experiences while simultaneously attempting to integrate with, align with, or even protect our inner experience. As we are born and grow, we continue to try to reconcile our external and internal worlds by creating strategies and defenses with our energy spiritually, mentally, emotionally and physically. Based on the concept that everything is a form of energy, that energy cannot be created or destroyed, only transformed, and that energy follows consciousness, it makes sense that we direct our energy and shape it into certain qualities that feel safe. This is the basis of Core Energetics theory and approach.

At the time, our defenses and strategies served us well; they helped us to adapt to the environment, stay alive, and keep our innermost, truest self from harm’s way. As adults we often continue to protect ourselves in this way, even though the original circumstances no longer exist. At some point, we become aware that our early life experiences are affecting our adult life, and realize we may be limiting ourselves; our abilities, creativity, connection with others…….whatever the limitation, it IS possible to re-organize ourselves, resulting in consciously using our energy to serve our highest self and purpose. Here lies the crux of the work.

The Core Energetics practitioner provides a supportive helper role and aligns with our positive intention to expand our consciousness through self-awareness.  They help us to engage with and explore our skillfully created energy systems and  guide us in recognizing our resistance, tolerating and expressing difficult feelings, and ultimately connecting with our true, genuine energy current; our original “yes” to life.

2. HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?
$120 for fifty minutes

3.  HOW DOES A SESSION WORK?
There will be a combination of talking, physical movement/exercises, breath work, and/or sound.  The CET counselor will be following your energy and consciousness rather than focusing on their own agenda. Throughout the sessions, there will be time spent developing your objective observing self (OOS) as well as exploring the energies of mask self (MS), lower self (LS), and higher self (HS). Click here to read more about OOS and MS,LS,HS.

5. WHAT IS THE RECOMMENDATION FOR FREQUENCY OF VISITS?
In my experience the work is more effective and tangible with frequent visits and I recommend a weekly or biweekly commitment. With that being said, taking care of yourself is better than not at all and the work remains helpful on a monthly basis, or every few weeks as well.

6. WHAT PAPERWORK DO I NEED TO FILL OUT?
There are 2 forms:

1.  Working agreement: sets up the basic structure of the therapeutic relationship by defining parameters of communication inside and outside of sessions, cost of services, cancellation policy, privacy and confidentiality, what to expect from doing body-centered counseling, and conscious closure.

2. Intake: series of questions designed to help me understand your personal history (birth, family environment growing up, religious/spiritual influences and beliefs, health, childhood experiences etc), your current status regarding career, health, relationships, your goals for doing this work, and anything else you would like to share.
